Gunfire left police searching for answers last night. Four people were shot in three different instances yesterday in North Charleston.
The first shooting occurred yesterday afternoon. Police were notified of a shooting victim on the ground at the Clarion Inn located at 3640 Dorchester Road.
Officials say that shortly before 5 p.m. they arrived and found a male victim suffering from a gun shot wound.
The man and his friend arrived in North Charleston on Tuesday by Greyhound bus from Detroit. Police say that the friend fled the scene and was later found in the bathroom of the nearby Golden Key Club.
According to NCPD investigators, the friend told police that he and the victim were standing on the side of the Clarion Hotel when a gold SUV pulled up and began firing at the victim, shooting him. NCPD spokesperson, Spencer Pryor, said the friend is being detained for questioning.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
While police continued to investigate the incident, a second North Charleston shooting was reported just one mile from the Clarion Inn.
According to North Charleston Police Department investigators, just before 8 p.m. yesterday evening police officers responded to alerts of two people shot in the 3300 block of Osceola Street. Officials say that two people were transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.
According to police, one victim was shot in the behind and the other was shot in the back. NCPD spoke with two subjects who said that a newer model Nissan with Tennessee tags was seen pulling up to the scene when a male passenger exited the vehicle and began firing at both victims.
Officers are still investigating the scene, which has been taped off. Evidence markers were also placed on the ground by investigators.
In the midst of these investigations, a third and final North Charleston shooting of the evening was reported just before 11 p.m. yesterday.
The shooting took place at the Cricket Court of the Park at Rivers Edge neighborhood. A male victim was found suffering from a wound to his upper jaw.
The man was transferred to MUSC for treatment. Police and hospital personnel have not confirmed that the victim’s wound was in fact a gunshot wound.
Police have located and detained two people who were described as leaving the scene. They were found in the neighboring Forest Hills community and are being held for questioning.
Authorities continue to investigate whether these incidents are related. The incidents occurred within an 8 miles radius, the earlier shootings within 1 mile of one another.
