One dead after vehicle collides with 18-wheeler in Berkeley County
Highway Patrol is investigating a crash between an 18-wheeler and a pick up truck that occurred at Brick Church Road and Cainhoy Road at approximately 4:50 p.m. on Monday.
Deputy Coroner Kirstin Mazzell said that 44-year-old John Mitchell, Jr. was driving his 2006 Ford F-350 when he crossed over the center line and into oncoming traffic, colliding with a 2015 freight liner.
Mitchell was pronounced dead on the scene and his death was ruled an accident.
The freight liner’s driver, 37-year-old Antoine Delvar was uninjured. Delvar also had a passenger.
Berkeley County Deputy Coroner Kristin Mazzell said Mitchell was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.
