Authorities Search for Cause in Deadly Highway 17 Accident Near Burbage Meats in Ravenel
Local authorities and commuters alike are searching for answers as to what caused the fatal accident on Savannah Highway 17 Sunday evening. The accident that shut down all lanes of Highway 17 near Burbage Meats in Ravenel, South Carolina left one person dead and another critically injured. The Isle of Palms County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased as 17-year-old Erwin Gustavo Sanchez-Gil of Ravenel. The surviving party was airlifted by helicopter to a local hospital.

Authorities reopened the southbound lanes of Savannah Highway 17 by 7:30 p.m. Sunday and all four lanes were opened as of late that night. Authorities are still searching for details about the cause of this fatal, two-car collision.
